Tile Refinishing

How to Care For Your Newly Refinished Tile

Whether you’ve had the tile refinished in your bathroom, kitchen, or laundry room, you want to be sure it stays in the best possible condition. Not only does Tub Tile & Tops refinish tile, but we also tell you exactly how to care for it so it remains as good as new. Follow these four tips for sparkling clean tile in your Nashville home.

Rinse Your Shower

Rinsing your shower or bathtub between uses will keep soap scum at bay in your bathroom. This residue can dull your newly glazed tile and eat away at the finish over time. All you need to do is give it a quick spray down when you’re done showering. Don’t forget to spray under soap dishes, shampoo bottles, and body wash bottles.

Clean Weekly

Cleaning the tiled area once a week will also keep the new glaze bright and fresh. Be sure not to use any bleach or bleach-containing products. Bleach can discolor the grout over time, undoing all the beautiful work on your beautifully finished tile.

Use the Right Cleaners

Along with not using any bleach, you also don’t want to use powders or soft-scrub gels. These can deteriorate the finished surface. Instead, use non-abrasive cleaners with non-abrasive scrubbing pads. Stick with a liquid tub and tile cleaner and apply and wipe with a soft cloth or sponge. If you want to stay away from harmful chemicals, try making your own tile cleaner. Mix together equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle and you have an effective, homemade disinfectant.

Conduct Regular Maintenance

Besides keeping the tile clean and free of soap scum, you’ll also want to keep up with any maintenance or repairs. A leaking faucet or dripping shower head, if not taken care of properly, can eventually cause damage to your tile floor.
